Youth Mentoring Services

Safeguarding

Safeguarding policies and procedures form the foundation of YOU-Zone mentoring services. We understand that our service users are uniquely individual, and we prioritize their safety and well-being above all else. We are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where our clients feel seen, heard, and respected.

We therefore take a proactive approach to safeguarding, ensuring our mentors receive regular training which will enable them to identify and respond to any potential concerns. We also have robust incident reporting policies and procedures in place to ensure that any safeguarding concerns are promptly addressed.

Risk Assessments

Risk assessments form an integral part of the YOU-Zone mentoring service. Risk assessments are carried out at the start of the mentoring relationship and on an ongoing basis. This will help to identify any potential risks to the mentor and mentee’s safety, such as the mentee’s home environment or the mentor’s own personal circumstances. Risk assessments are also conducted, and counter signed by parents/carers whenever taking a service user out into the community.

Communication

We ensure communication between mentors and mentees remains appropriate and respectful. Our mentors avoid any form of communication that could be considered as grooming or exploitation. Our mentors are also aware of the professional boundaries of the mentoring relationship and should not cross those boundaries.
